Al Pastor Chicken Shawarma

This is the perfect recipe to share with friends over the weekend or one day when you do not want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. This is our own version of the famous Middle Eastern shawarma; we love the flavour that the Taco Al Pastor seasoning give to this famous dish. Try it and let us know what you think.

Makes 10 pitas

Ingredients

For the chicken

9 boneless chicken tights

4 tbsp Taco Al Pastor Seasoning

2 tbsp vegetable oil

 

For the salad

½ peeled & deseeded cucumber

½ red pepper

½ yellow pepper

½ red onion

3 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

2 tbsp chopped fresh dill

2 tbsp chopped fresh chives

1 lime

1 tsp salt

1/8 tsp ground black pepper

2 tbsp olive oil

 

10 pita bread

6 tbsp sour cream

 

Method

Start by preparing the salad. Dice the cucumber, onion and peppers. Place on a bowl and add the fresh herbs, coriander, dill and chives. Squeeze the juice of the lime and add the olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Mix and set aside.

 

Then preheat the oven to 180 degrees C, place the boneless tights on a baking tray. Pour the vegetable oil and the Taco Al Pastor Seasoning and mix well, so all the tights get some of the seasoning. Place in the oven and cook for 35 min. Once is cooked, dice in small pieces.

Pour the sour cream into a bowl. Heat the pitas in the oven and open them with a knife. Place the salad, chicken, sour cream and pitas on the table so everyone helps themselves.
