This is such a beautiful sauce that tickles all the tastebuds. It goes from sweet to salty and smokey. Perfect for a lovely summer bowl full of fresh and roasted ingredients. It has been one of our most used homemade sauces this whole summer and we hope it becomes one of yours too! Super easy recipe below.

Spicy Peanut Butter Sauce

-3 tbsp peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

-1 tbsp adobo from chipotles in adobo

-1 lime, juiced

-½ tsp ginger, grated

-½ tsp garlic powder

-2 tbsp soy sauce

-honey, to taste

-water, the necessary

1 Add the peanut butter, adobo, ginger, garlic powder, soy sauce and the juice of half a lime and whisk together. Add honey to taste and water, little by little if the consistency is too thick.

Notes

  • Lemon juice works well tool
  • If you use unsalted peanut butter, adjust the seasoning with more soy sauce or salt to taste.
  • You can add more chipotle adobo or whole chipotle peppers to the mix for added smokey spice!

Serving suggestions:

Our favourite way to enjoy this sauce is over a black rice bowl with roasted sweet potato, scallions, edamame, avocado, jalapenos, coriander, mango and any protein you like. You can use grilled chicken, or salmon or keep it vegetarian. Drizzle plenty of the spicy peanut butter sauce over and serve more on the side for dipping.
